The DrAdvice website was founded by Dr. Shazan Chughtai to provide reliable and trustworthy medical and health advice online. The Internet has allowed people easy access to a vast array of health information; however, trying to sift the most credible and unambiguous information is far from easy. By utilising the Internet, DrAdvice aims to make access to health advice easy and convenient.

Editorial integrity

Editorial integrity is crucial to DrAdvice. Any advertising on our site will in no way influence our articles. If there are any conflicting interests, they will be clearly mentioned below in the professional's profile. All of our content is based on the following principles:

Information must reflect best practice
Information must be easily accessible
Information must be confidential

Regulation

All healthcare professionals working for DrAdvice are registered with their respective regulatory body. The DrAdvice team consists of doctors, dentists and pharmacists. All medical and health information, including the online doctor service require the respective professional to reveal their full name as it appears on their professional register. Questions answered using the online doctor service are answered by Dr Shazan Chughtai.

Please feel free to check any member of staff's registration with their respective body; this can be done using their full name as it appears on articles and answers and checking this against their corresponding professional register.

An important point to mention regarding the regulation of pharmacists, is that the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain will soon be replaced by the General Pharmaceutical Council, once the parliamentary process is complete in 2010.

The DrAdvice Editorial Board

Our editorial board is made up of members from a wide variety of clinical backgrounds, who both author and peer review articles.

Chief Editor: Dr Shazan Chughtai, MB BS

Shazan is a sessional General Practitioner and Chief Editor of the DrAdvice website. He has an interest in online healthcare innovation and is also CEO of Primary Ventures Limited.

He graduated from St Bartholomew's and the Royal London School of Medicine and trained in diabetes, accident and emergency, general medicine and surgery, hepatology, renal, stroke and psychiatry before going on to do his training in general practice. As well as general practice his experience includes forensic medicine and pre hospital emergency care.

Surgical Editor: Dr Hanny Anwar, BMedSci, MB BS, MRCS

Hanny is currently a specialist registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery at the Whittington Hospital NHS Trust, London. He has a special interest in spinal trauma and is a regular contributor to the site. Dr Anwar is our Surgical Editor on the Dr Advice Editorial Board.

Hanny graduated from St Bartholomew's and the Royal London Hospitals School of Medicine. He is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His training includes general, vascular and oncoplastic breast surgery.

Pharmacy Editor: Mr Shiraz Mughal, MPharmS

Shiraz is a self-employed pharmacist and our pharmacy editor here at DrAdvice. He is currently involved in developing our online medicines database. His current area of interest is clinical pharmacy.

Shiraz graduated from the Pharmacy School at Portsmouth University, where he gained a Master of Pharmacy degree with honours. He is a member of The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. During his training his experiences included, medicines management, parenteral nutrition and cardiovascular pharmacy. He also has extensive community pharmacy experience in substance misuse and elderly care pharmacy.

Dental Editor: Dr Ahmed Farooq, BMedSci, BDS, MJDF (RCS Eng)

Ahmed is currently working in both an NHS dental practice in Kent and as a dentist at Kings College Hospital NHS Trust. He has a special interest in restorative dentistry. Ahmed is our Dental Editor and is one of our regular contributors.

Ahmed graduated from The University of Birmingham. He is a member of the General Dental Council and The Royal College of Surgeons. His training includes paediatric dentistry, restorative dentistry and acute dental care.

Network of health professionals

DrAdvice has an expanding network of experienced doctors, dentists and pharmacists who write health articles for the public, which are then peer reviewed by the DrAdvice Editorial Panel. Your questions, however, are only answered by Dr Shazan Chughtai.
