Definition:

This is where an ECG is continuously taken while the patients’ walks and is then gradually made to exert themselves. The exercise is used to precipitate angina like symptoms and the ECG monitored to confirm any changes that may indicate coronary heart disease.

When would I need this test?

Cardiologist may use the test to diagnose the first case of angina, to assess the severity of existing angina and occasionally after coronary heart surgery, the ETT can be used to help ascertain the level of exercise that may be suitable for the patient during rehabilitation.
